After completing the skin for 'Frequency,' I spent some months completing my degree, then moved home. I was promised a job at a magazine, then left waiting word for months (two years later, the magazine finally geared up, but after 5 months of working on empty promises, without any pay or indication of when the magazine would launch, I walked).
In the beginning of July 2000, I was asked to do a skin for Six Flags' amusement parks that would promote their roller coasters. They sent me a series of extraordinarily low-resolution images to use as reference (or maybe they thought those images would be suitable for me to use in building the skin), and I more or less discarded them immediately.
Though I think they were expecting something more three-dimensional, that ain't what they got. I went for a more atmospheric and iconic look, creating essentially silhouetted versions of a classical wooden coaster, and utilizing the supporting structure as a design element in the Equalizer window.
The skin was created over four days, and was finished twenty minutes before my father and I left for a camping trip.
