I drew a lot during high school - my notebooks ended up with as much loose white paper covered with pictures as they did notebook paper covered with pictures. Every once in a while, you might happen across a sheet with class-related notes...

This started out as a spaceship drawing. I always loved how some of the Russian MiGs had jet intakes built into the nose of the plane, and decided to incorporate that into my ship. I flared the sides out, then added a giant rudder fin like the Space Shuttle has. At least in part because I'd failed to add a cockpit or bridge to the ship, when I took a long look at the drawing, I realized, "This looks like a top!"

Delving deep into Jewish mysticism (by 'mysticism,' I mean 'possibly the one holiday that many non-Jews know'), I added the Hebrew letters shown on a Hanukkah dreidel. It felt right, and looks cool. To fill up Space, I threw in an asteriod and a big star with a lens flare.

Though the original drawing was done in pencil and black ink, when I scanned it into Photoshop, I enhanced it with a filtered lens flare, more shading and color. Somehow, the asteroid now looks like the best (or at least most realistic) part of the picture, but I can't complain.
