In mid-June 2001, I was contacted by my friends at Grand Royal Records about creating a skin to promote Bran Van 3000's forthcoming album 'Discosis.'

The following day, with LP artwork in hand and a copy of 'Astounded,' the album's first single, I set to work.

'Astounded,' is a hybrid of 70's Disco/Funk and modern Dance music, so a clean retro feel seemed perfectly appropriate. I initially was unsure of how I was going to convey this feeling, but after some experimenting, I came up with the nested sweeping lines that comprise the finished skin.

Actual graphics production took four days of on-off work, but it was a pleasure to work on a commissioned skin that came free of constraints; the last few assignments had made Advil virtually necessary to work through the headaches creating them.
